If you have a 4 stroke that is running hot like mine does(02 YZ250F) then you are reading the right post right here. I found on the internet pictures of people drilling holes in their radiator shroud plastic that clips before the radiator. I thought about it for a little while, and there are 2 ways you can give your 4 stroke consideratly better air flow to the radiators
1.You can completly take off the radiator protective plastics which will expose the radiators to the elements and will easily be popped and ruined..but they also let the most air pass through possible.
2. Another way you can do it is drilling the holes in the plastic. This guides a little more air into your radiators than the stock look because the little bits of air can pass through the holes. I did it to my bike and rode it around and I found that the radiators didn't warm up as fast.
This would be great for 2 strokes to but a 4 stroke owner should definatly consider it.
Tools: Screw Driver, Bit(the size you want your holes) and just take your time. I will get around to posting up some pictures of mine. You can drill as many holes as you want but when it gets to be too many then dirt can free flow right into your radiator which will cause your bike to overheat. -Thanks for reading the Tech Tip of the Week. Next week we will talk about sprockets and chains.

Idea maybe if u angle the holes (little late for you tayz ahhaha) it will make the hole smaller the flying debris from up front but the swirling wind it will hardly effect

I tested it out last night at my track and it definatly helps. I suggest anyone with a thumper should do this along with buy a jug of engine ice because its awsome stuff. I am guessing that those holes prolly make my rads run at least 5 degree's cooler because i put my dads radiator thermometer up to it and it was about that much less, so even with a 2 stroke you will get some gains. Remember..the cooler you can keep your engine the more power you produce.
