i know this sounds really dumb and im embarrassed about asking and all but im new to racing as many of you know and i DONT know a whole lot about bike stuff. well anyways i just got a new bike and its a 03 yz 85( i will be posting pictures later) and i was wondering if you guys could help me with maintence and the regulars like i know its mixed gas but with what, how much and what brand ect. same with oil and filter.... thanks i know you guys will help a ton

well on my dirt bike at my dads( 02 yz 125) i run caster 927 mixed at 32:1 ( 4 oz of oil per gallon). the filter shoudl be cleaned about every 5 rides at the most. the best thing is to have alt least one spare filter cleaned and oiled all the time

Run Amsoil or Klotz premix...mix it at 32:1 and clean the air filter every ride...or if its not dusty at all you will be fine prolly but you should every ride for safe insurance...You should run either a UNI or TWIN AIR filter becuase those seem to be the best and most pro's use one or the other. Keep all the bearings greased up and normal maintenence...lube the chain and stuff alot...and ask if you need anymore tips. |

Because you said clean the filter every 5 rides at the most...well it should be every rider or 2 depending the conditions..(not recomended to not clean your filter on a 4 stroke...do it or you'll be paying alot of expense for stuff)....dirt could easily be getting by after that amount of time...because as the dirt clings to the oil you lose power and then your engine possibly can suck in dirt which is hell on the engine.
