This story broke recently, a couple white highschool students went on My Space and posted some racist sh!t about a black student from their school. They did it from their computer at their house , no school computer was used nor was it done from the school. Someone at the school found out about it and because in was kids from the school and the school was named the school felt they had the right to suspend the white kids from school for cyber bullying. Do you guys think the school was right or did they voilate the white students 1st amendment rights? Do you think your school has a right to monitor what you do AFTER and AWAY from school ? blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2006/03/free_speech_or_.html

I think the school over stepped their limits of authority. They have no right to suspend kids that did nothing wrong in school, unless they were harassing the kid in school too.

Okay, they have no right to kick the kids out of school... but should the shcool even be surfing these sites to see what their students are doing?
Isn't this just a jr version of "big brother"?
At what point would you draw the line between civcil rights and protecting the public good. Also should kids even have any rights to free expression ?
